Festival of Flowers 10th Anniversary
Hard to believe Festival of Flowers is turning 10 in 2019! It all started when our friend and customer Midge McDermott came into Waukesha Floral–well, 10 years ago!–and told me about a great flower shop up in Minneapolis she visited called Bachmann’s. Midge was impressed with their large floral showroom and greenhouses, and she had lunch in their cafe. She crafted the idea that perhaps the Interfaith Senior Program (now ERA’s Senior Network) could partner with Waukesha Floral to present a “Welcome to Spring” luncheon and show in our greenhouses, set up like a cafe. All the proceeds would benefit senior citizens and those people in our area that have special needs met by this great organization. Plus, good food, new friends, spring flowers and sunshine are all good for the soul! Here are some quick facts about Festival of Flowers:
- During this event, temperatures outside have ranged from 18 degrees to 86 degrees!
- The servers are all volunteers of ERA’s Senior Network
- Waukesha Floral is honored to have donated over $15,000 of sales and services to ERA’s Senior Network through the ten years of Festivals.
- The evening event, called Spring Wine Garden, has the most laughs and fun of all the seatings!
Here are just a few pictures of the Festival of Flowers fun over the years. I invite you to come and join the fun and support ERA’s Senior Network at the same time!
